Mint Julep

Yup, it’s Finally Friday and IknowUknow the weather is nice. In fact, it's so nice that I forgot to postyesterday (been real busy). So since I left you without a post I've decided to double up and post some new stuff. The drink of this weekend is the Mint Julip (yea yea). It's a nice drink to chill out with before you hit the club. Saturday afternoon, you might even want to chill out with these in that nice weather. When the night time hits, you will be ready to take those shots after getting a nice buzz from this. The recipe is.....Mint Julep

4 fresh mint sprigs

2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey

1 tsp powdered sugar

2 tsp water

 Directions

Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar, and water in a

collins glass. Fill the glass with shaved or crushed

ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish

with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.

I've decided to post multiple songs for this weekend,

most are new songs that you've probably haven't heard.

All three contain high energy and they will get you

ready for whatever you are about to do, lets gooooo!

First up is Lil Wayne with  new song off the Carter

III called, "Got Money". The song features T Pain and

is crazy....

Next is DJ Khaled's "Out Here Grinding" feat. the

usual artist (lol), and if you don't know who they are

you must have been under a rock for the past year.

The song is produced by The Runners (always making

heat), and is definitely a summer song.

Last is Rihanna's new single "Disturbia" from the

re-release of "Good Girl Gone Bad".  The song is brand

new, and you can find this climbing the billboard

charts shortly.  This girl is slowly taking over the

music world....

Check back next week with a new Lil Wayne track feat

Jay-z, info on Bloodshy & Avant, Saigon's new

single, why the Lakers are sooo damn good and more.......

Are you ready for some Football?!

Posted by iknowuknow on May 27, 2008

Champions League

No, this isn’t a post about who’s being signed to someone’s pre-season practice squad. It’s about good ol’ European football. Last week’s UEFA Champion’s League Final between Manchester United and Chelsea was as exhilarating as they come. Whether you’re a soccer enthusiast, casual fan, or even a soccer basher, you would’ve enjoyed this final. The crowd made for an electric, albeit intense, atmosphere. If it weren’t Wednesday night at 9pm, I would’ve been in the nearest pub filling up on lager and nachos, contemplating if I should call out of work, which is a daily struggle for this guy. Both teams had a ton of individual skill on display and they created enough chances to keep it interesting all the way through to penalty kicks. Man U. dominated possession throughout the game, but Chelsea had more bite in the final third of the field. What makes this night so memorable are the guys that missed the penalty kicks; Cristiano Ronaldo, John Terry, and Nicolas Anelka. Who woulda thought it?! When you see names like that step up to the spot, you know its going to the back of the net. Right?! Ronaldo had scored 42 goals this season and is one of the best finishers in football! John Terry, the England stalwart, always maintains his IS composure! Anelka, who is also lethal around the goal, bitched and moaned his way onto a “big” squad, squandered his chance to make an impact on Chelsea’s season (positively at least). Across the board, it was a great game. The teams played positive, passionate, and attacking football. It was exponentially more entertaining than the defensive slumber parties we usually see when two of England’s “Big 4” play one another.

Hip-Hop and the City…

Posted by iknowuknow on May 27, 2008

The City

There was a story going around the interweb last week about a girl who obsessed over HBO’s famed “Sex and the City.” She didn’t just watch it. She lived it. What’s the problem you say? She was 14! Of course, now she’s a happily married Mormon woman, but this is not the issue I’m examining. This woman acknowledged that the show was the sole influence of her promiscuity, underage drinking, and other damaging, destructive behavior. My question is, why don’t shows like this generate the same controversy and animosity that hip hop music does? This girl wasn’t a product of her environment. She wasn’t subject to a poor education and unbalanced legal system. She was a product of a culture, or subculture, if you say. People (the media) are quick to point the finger at hip hop, and its artists for many of the ailments of today’s youth. But what about the role of shows in the vein of Sex and the City, The Hills, Gossip Girl, and even My Super Sweet Sixteen?! Shouldn’t they also be held accountable for promoting, condoning, glorifying, and enabling destructive, damaging, and irreverent behavior/attitudes?

The OJ Mayo Saga….

Posted by iknowuknow on May 27, 2008

OJOJOJ

IknowUknow about the controversy surrounding OJ Mayo and his illegal gifts. I’m not surprised by that at all. What does surprise me is all the flak the NCAA is taking for this. It seems the general opinion is that Mayo is a victim. A victim of circumstance and of the NCAA’s rules, regulations, and legalities. I disagree. Yes, he was poor. Yes, he was preyed upon by numerous sleuths, leeches, and reps, but he knew the rules and he made a conscious decision to break them, repeatedly! What this exhibits is OJ’s character, or lack thereof. I’ve known poor athletes and poor people in high school and college, and none of them broke the rules/laws. They made due with what hey had. The NCAA should not be blamed for someone else’s poor decision making.

If OJ can’t handle being a poor college student (like the rest of us were), how is he going to handle turning a franchise around, leading a team, and being the face of an entire organization?!

Common trying a new sound!

Posted by iknowuknow on May 23, 2008

IknowUknow-New joint from Common, “Universal Mind Control”, from his up-coming album Invincible Summer. The song isn’t the typical sampled soulful sound that Common has been known to rhyme over, but instead a synth driven up tempo beat. He claims he is going for a new sound on this album, which is good. I mean his last two albums, Be and Forever, were great but another album with the same sound could get boring; I mean how many times can you make the same album. So its good to hear that he is trying a new style. The song sounds like its inspired by the Afrika Bambaataa song, “Looking for the Perfect Beat”. I think the song is cool. The beats cool, Common did a decent job with the lyrics (he tried to use an old school flow), but Pharrell could have done a better job with the chorus. Song may have to take some listener’s time to get used to. Check it out and let me know what you think.
First listen Rating= 3.5/5

Cold Play in new iTunes Commercial!

Posted by iknowuknow on May 22, 2008

IknowUknow Apple’s marketing and creative team is on point. This Commercial is a message to all of the corporate company’s out there. You need to step up your marketing and advertisement departments. There is a reason why Apple dominates their respective markets. All of their commercials catch your eyes and draws your attention. The viewers are drawn to watch the artistically creative iPod/iPhone commercials or the humorous pc vs. mac commercials. This commercial right here (Cold Play) demonstrates the time, money, and effort that Apple takes with creating their advertisements; it seems to be helping their profit. Other company’s should take note. O yea, here’s another apple commercial to take us out.

Usher’s new video and single, “Moving Mountains”

Posted by iknowuknow on May 22, 2008

This is the latest single and video for Usher new album, “Here I Stand”, which is set to be released on May 27.  “Moving Mountains” keeps a trance synth sound; similar to the sound Timbaland, Danja, and Justin Timberlake started. But they also add smooth piano keys to the melody with crisp bouncing snares.  So far his album is sounding pretty good based of the current singles “Love in the Club” and now “Moving Mountains”.  I’m looking forward to hearing his album, and looking to see where he goes with this one; his follow up the chart topping “Confessions”.  Not to compare the two, but Justin Timberlake did set the precedent high with his last album “Future Sex/ Love Sounds”.  They both are the biggest male pop stars of my generation, so the comparison probably will never end.

Katy Perry, kissed a girl? Damn I should have been there!

Posted by iknowuknow on May 21, 2008

Katy Perry

I have been trying to put this song up for a while.  It’s been out for maybe a month, and it’s called “Kissed a Girl” by a new artist named Katy Perry.  Song is tough, (who doesn’t like the idea of it), and if you haven’t heard it, look for this song on your radio, it’s been constantly gaining spins. Aside from the great lyrics, she also held it down with the vocals; yea this girl has talent. O yea, she was the girl that was featured in the Gym Class Heroes song “Cupids Chokehold”.  4/5 rating.
